Goodbye Sydney

Hi everyone! We are leaving Sydney today, a very beautiful city built around a gorgeous natural harbour. We’ve visited its most famous icons: The Opera House and Harbour Bridge, but we’ve also wandered down the narrow laneways, cobblestone streets, sandstone steps and pinturesque buildings of The Rocks, Sydney’s oldest suburb and where our hostel was located. The hostel was superb, a 5-star one which opened last October, with a rooftop terrace where you can relax ( although a bit cold now) and enjoy the outstanding views of the City Harbour Bridge and The Opera House and see people bridgeclimbing.Even there was TV in the room!!!
We also took a ferry to Manly, the birthplace of Australian surfing, from Circular Quay. I think it’s a must for every visitor because it offers spectacular views of the coastline; we walked along Shelly Bay . We also visited the Fish Markets and had lunch at one of the market’s seafood bars ( oysters, prawns, squid, lobster, grilled filets (and we saw bugs, an Australian type of seafood). Yesterday,a stroll along the Botanic Gardens, an oasis in the heart of Sydney, and the main streets in the city centre (CBD), which means some shopping.
We are at the airport ready to set off to Cairns in Queensland where we are going to spend another part of our trip. A Three hour and a quarter flight for just heading north a tiny spot in the map. Hope it will be hotter and will be able to relax in some of the white sandy beaches with palm trees that you see in the brochures!!!!
